late night talks

C and I are sick.

He's sicker than me, but we're both sick sick.
Luckily Mr. H came home last night a little early and saved us both.

The olympics started!  The team ice skating was last night and in all my sick glory, I felt my heart get bigger as I watched the beautiful performances.

We have good news in our house!!!  We are either going to be living in Philadelphia, PA or Boston, MA for the next little while.  SO EXCITED!!!!!

So I've been of course researching my little heart out.

Philadelphia

Boston

Boston

Last nights conversation:
Mr. H "I'm thinking we should get rid of our car when we move."
me: "WHAT??!!!!" No way!"
Mr. H "It just doesn't make sense financially to keep it when we'll live in a city with awesome transportation."
me: "How will I go grocery shopping with kids???  how will we go places?"
Mr. H "I don't know....you could take a stroller?"
I knew I had to talk some sense in him: "How would we go CAMPING?"
pause
Mr. H "You know, you have a point there."

My friend K and my mom came over and hung out for awhile yesterday.  It was a blast.  Those two are funny: I think my favorite line of our conversation:
my mom "K, do you not like Mitt Romney?"
pause, K "I'm like GO HILARY CLINTON!"
:)

Anyway, we're getting so excited.
So here's to a long, great weekend in which we can feel better and keep dreaming. :)

New Computer + Grandma Time!

Mr. H is a PC guy.
I am a Mac girl.
We didn't realize how this little detail about us could cause so many problems.
Mr. H thinks apple products are over priced, and doesn't like that you can't build your own stuff.
I have always had a Mac, and think they are the best things ever.
So when my laptop was starting to die, we had to decide what kind of a desktop to get.
I really didn't want to give up being a Mac person.  It's kind of a thing ya know?
But...Mr. H was SO excited to build us a new computer.

So, I let him build us a computer.
(Kind of big for me to give in :) )

It's been his Christmas every day as the parts started to arrive.

He worked hard, (and it didn't even take him too long)

and

TADA!
We have a new computer!

I have to admit, I really love it.  He made it really nice and we've had a lot of fun playing around with it.

Earlier this week, Grandma T took us to the Festival of Trees.  It was a lot of fun.
I attempted to get a good picture of her with baby C.
The trees were amazing as usual, and it was a great atmosphere.  But cousin M and baby C's favorite thing was just running around out in the foyer.
Silly boys.

Yesterday, baby C got sick again, and we had to miss playgroup AGAIN which made me so sad.  So I called up my mom and she came and hung out for the day.  It was so nice to have her over, and really brightened our day.
He loves sitting on laps and reading books.  I LOVE IT!

Last night, I took the activity day girls up the german Christmas Market at This is the Place.  It's a really cute market, and we got to see President Uchtdorf!!!!  (I was really excited about that).  The only bummer was that it was 7 DEGREES!!!!!  So go to the market, just go during the day when it's a little warmer. :)

Happy Weekend!

Pumpkin Carving Fail

I don't know if I can adequately describe the type of fiasco our pumpkin carving was tonight.
But let's see:
Baby C is sick with another runny nose.  BOOOOO!!!!  So he's toddling around, nose running, feverish and overall grumpy.

The house is a DISASTER, thanks to me not being organized today and trying to get too many things done with a sick baby.

Our pumpkin is half rotten.

We try to clear off dinner from the table, and as Mr. H goes to put the leftovers in the fridge, they fall all over the floor and pasta flies everywhere.

I attempt to convince Mr. H that I want to listen to Christmas music while we carve.  He refuses. :)  We choose the Beatles, and decide it will be a family tradition.

So with the Beatles blaring, we start to carve.

Carving a rotten pumpkin is pretty easy, surprise!

As we lift the top of our pumpkin off, there is a shattering of glass, and to the music of "Can't Buy Me Love", Baby C has knocked over our glass candy jar, shattering it to smithereens.
Baby C is terrified, and we all jump into action.

So, with the Beatles blaring in the background, Baby C sobbing, Mr. H attempts to vacuum up the glass.

But whoops.  The vacuum decides it's sucking power is zero.

Mr. H is down on all fours, trying to sweep and pick up the glass.

Baby C is much more feverish, and is so sad.

Mr. H and I look at each other
and decide to call it a night.

We drop that pumpkin right back outside, and get little baby C to sleep.

Our attempted "happy face" pictures
I think Mr. H's face says it all
But on happier, more brighter notes:
*I'm teaching a little girl piano and voice lessons that lives in our court. It has been such a blast.  But today, she sang "Tomorrow" from Annie, and it made me tear up.  She was awesome and truly singing from her little soul.  It made me so happy.
*Baby C said a new word today: "BANANA!"
*Have you seen these two videos?

AWESOME.
*Got to talk to the sister tonight.  And found out we both love the movie "Steel Magnolias"

Goodnight!

Medicine Woman Mommy

Medicine Woman Mommy.  ha.  I don't know why that cracks me up, but I sure get a kick out of it. :) (Mr. H would say he's glad it cracks someone up)
Anyway.
I just wanted to share: baby C started getting sick on Tuesday.  Nothing major, but I wanted to be prepared this time around, because sick babies are the WORST.
So I pulled out my eucalyptus oil and gave him a bath with it, and put it in his humidifier.
Yesterday, so Wednesday, he was much worse.  That little nose was running, and his eyes were really watery.  He was really out of it.
So I used my trusty friend, garlic, and made him REALLY  garlicky scrambled eggs.  We kept up the humidifier, but after lunch his nose was still really runny.
We headed to sprouts farmer's market and I asked them if they had anything for baby colds.
They recommended me a product called "Sniffles n' Sneezes 4 kids".

Anyway, we used it.  I am amazed!!!  It really did work!  So he slept through the night, his nose has stopped running and this morning he woke up happy and a lot less congested.  I gave him some more garlicky scrambled eggs, an orange and then a baby green smoothie.  So far, he's doing great.
I'm normally in the middle in terms of going natural vs. medicine.  I feel both sides have their place, and both should be used with caution.  But I did really feel this product worked.  I have a much happier baby a day a day and half after getting sick.
:)
Hooray!
Also:
C's new favorite book:
Meet Chicka Chicka Boom Boom-a H family favorite.  Seriously-C brings this book to me 10 times a day to read.  He loves it.
