February musings....

February.  What a month here in Watertown, MA.

SNOW.

That would be the word of all words to sum it up.

It snowed.  A lot.

More on that later.

Other happenings:

A fun superbowl party with friends.  We let C stay up and he had a BLAST.  He LOVED eating the treats and playing with his friends.

Tuesdays have become our library days.  We love our local library, and C has grown to love the story time there.  He loves picking out books (we've gotten some weird ones), playing with the toys there, and playing puzzles.  His favorite part is checking out, and he takes it very seriously.  He loves handing the librarian the card, and then she always gives him a stamp on his hand.  Lately, he's been asking for both hands.  It's pretty cute.

Mr. H and I helped with a fun primary activity.  We are enjoying our callings as primary teachers working with the eleven year olds.

We also got to speak in church.  We talked about family history, and we had fun putting those talks together. Mr. H LOVES doing family history and has been plugging away at it very diligently.  We both found out that we have ancestors that helped found Watertown.  Cemetery scouting will be happening as soon as the snow melts.

We've also been diligent attenders at Tune Train through the Watertown family network. C has been learning so many new songs and we love it.

We had a nice Valentine's day.  Mr. H and I take turns planning V-day and our anniversary every year, and it was my turn for this fun day.  We made a fun fancy breakfast with C.  He loves 'fancy' breakfasts!  Then that night we all went to dinner.  It was of course snowing, and so we didn't go very far.  Dinner was good, and it was fun having C along.  Mr. H and I played games that night and then watched a movie of his choice: Castaway.  I had never seen it, and while I don't know if it would have ever been my pick for a Valentine's day movie, it was fun to see how much he enjoyed it.

Mr. H and I did a hospital tour of where I will be delivering at.  It was really fun---we're excited to have such a great hospital in our area!

We had two Sundays where church was cancelled.  We got to have our own sacrament meeting which was different, but neat.

Mr. H and I have been going on a few dates which have also been fun.  We went to a play, a murder mystery by Agatha Christie.  It was held at a local church, and it was a lot of fun!  We also went and played racquetball and our local YMCA.  That was hilarious....Mr. H had to play with his left hand to make it remotely far.

My dr's appointments picked up this month, and I have to say C has been quite the trooper.  He is the best buddy every at those appointments.  My third trimester has surprisingly been my best, and I've felt really good and healthy.

School was cancelled a lot too....which was fun for the most part, but got kind of stressful towards the end.

And back to the snow.  I have never experienced SO MUCH SNOW! It just kept on coming.  A foot here, a couple of feet there it was crazy.  Boston made a record on snowfall this February, and I was afraid the snow drifts were going to cover my windows!  Luckily, our power always remained on, and so it mostly just kept us indoors.  Poor Mr. H had to do a lot of shoveling.
Modeling my scarf...and sporting his new haircut!

Martin Luther King JR Day

Hooray for long weekends!!!
Friday I tried to do a racquetball date night, but the gym was closed.  So it turned out to be a "Just Dance" date night instead.  (Mr. H was thrilled.... ha)
Saturday Mr. H played some church basketball, and we got to organize a closet.  I seriously don't know why we haven't organized more in our marriage.  It's the BEST.
We also were able to have a fun primary presidency dinner.
We made homemade calzones, which were delicious.
Sunday was a little stressful, as C was just not having it.
The first hour was rough.
As soon as Mr. H got off the stand, and was holding C, he was totally fine.
We were able to see some old friends that night, and it was really fun chatting and laughing together.
We also squeezed in another episode of Downton Abbey.
Monday started with homework for Mr. H and grocery shopping for C and I.  Luckily, homework didn't take all day, and we got to go to a movie that night.
I had been begging Mr. H to go and see "Frozen" for forever.  So we did. :)
I LOVED IT.
I know I sound like a cliche Disney movie lover,
but man.  It was so so so good.
From the opening scene, I was hooked.
I cried during the first five minutes.
I LOVED the messages.
I loved the music.
I loved the whole feel.
It truly was magical.  I came out wanting to dance around, say "frozen" in a whispery voice, and smiled from ear to ear.
If you haven't seen it, I think you will really enjoy it.  I think Disney nailed this one.

Anyway.

It was a great long weekend, and Mr. H heads out tomorrow for his conference.

p.s. I thought this was a great idea to celebrate MLK day.

Halloween

This past October was a really great month in terms of celebrating for us.

I actually decorated the apartment, which was kind of a first for me. :)

Yesterday we picked Mr. H up from work and headed up to visit our families.

For our costumes, we decided to go STAR WARS

Mr. H was so excited.  We sewed a jedi robe and tunic for him.   He told me it had always been a childhood dream of his to go as a jedi. :)
The beard was grown out for the costume.  Mr. H was stoked.

I went as Princess Leia, and then Baby C was a baby ewok.
Leia and Obi-Wan Kenobi
Our little Ewok...who was kind of a sad little Ewok.

It was so fun to all dress up together.

We had such a fun Halloween-themed dinner with Mr. H's family.
Grandma T had witches fingers, beef stew and cool dry ice root beer.
It was nice to be able to see them and spend some time with them.
We got dressed up and it was fun for baby C to be the center of attention of the cameras.

Since Mr. H and I used to only live six housed down from each other, we trick or treated down to my family's house.  Baby C didn't really understand the concept, but it was fun to see our old neighbors.

I do have to say, I haven't been trick or treating in 11 years, and it did feel a little weird to knock on someone's door and be in a costume and ask for candy.  ha.

We trick or treated to my parents house and they were so cute with baby C.  Baby C immediately knew where all their toys were, and we all chatted, took pictures and ate pomegranets. It would have been my parents first Halloween just them, but luckily they had us to crash it. :)

Then we headed up to our neighbor's for donuts.  3 years ago, on Halloween, Mr. H invited me to come to his house to see each other for the first time after his mission.
I was so nervous to see him, but we gave each other awkward hugs and went down to the basement.  We immediately started talking like we had always been best friends.
That night I knew that Mr. H was like coming home for me.
Anyway, that night we went to this same neighbor's house for donuts.  We were such an awkward couple, not dating yet, but together.  Our neighbors were so sweet to us and I love that they are part of our Halloween tradition. :)

Hope you all had a great Halloween!
